Kockurus grandis is an extinct species of the arthropods from the Lower Cambrian .

features

The headstock was semicircular, ended laterally in short spikes and had an undifferentiated edge. The ratio of length to width of the top plate was between 0.6 and 0.7. The narrow eyes were dorsal and relatively far apart. A contiguous trunk was not found, but it is believed to be composed of 14 to 16 large segments that ended in short pleural spines.

etymology

The genus name Kockurus is derived from the place where it was found, Mount Kočka. The specific epithet is the Latin word grandis and means large.

Location

Only 41 incomplete specimens of this species were found on Kočka Mountain in the Bridy Mountains in the Czech Republic .

Systematics

Kockurus grandis shows some similarities with the Kodymirus vagans, which also comes from the Czech Republic, and is therefore, according to van Roy 2006, one of the arthropods similar to aglaspidida .
