The suitcase factory is a private cultural center in Fürth .

The suitcase factory has been located in a former factory building on Langen Strasse in Fürth since 1994. The building was built in the middle of the 19th century and is one of the last remaining industrial structures on the city limits to Nuremberg .

At first, mirrors were made on the site, as in many other factories and home businesses in the city. At the beginning of the 20th century, the production of suitcases began. The production of all kinds of suitcases by the Bermas company was discontinued in the 1980s.

A real estate agent bought the area as a speculative property. It was initially intended to offer the craftsmen, artists, a pub and a gallery a temporary home.

The suitcase factory houses a pub, a beer garden, a gallery and four open stages. First and foremost, in-house productions, local bands and projects have space there, but international concerts also take place. The musical offer includes jazz, classical, blues and rock. In addition to local bands, national and international artists such as Al Di Meola , Ginger Baker , Scott Henderson , Steve Gibbons , The Shanes , Chris Kramer , Ray Wilson , Jan Akkerman and Thomas Leeb also regularly perform there . The other cultural offerings include poetry slams , cabaret, theater performances and poetry readings. Self-produced theater performances and literary readings take place there on a regular basis, as well as appearances by well-known writers such as Harry Rowohlt and cabaret artists such as Matthias Egersdörfer . The pub quiz with Kevin Dardis has developed into a visitor magnet in recent years, so there are regular waiting lists.
