Koikili (real name Koikili Lertxundi del Campo ; born December 23, 1980 in Ochandiano , Basque Country ) is a former Spanish football player who u. a. from 2007 to 2012 played at Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Primera División .

Player career

Koikili is arguably the best example of a late starter. Until 2003 he played for CD Aurrerá Vitoria , CA Osasuna B and Gernika FC in Segunda División B , the third highest division in Spain. After Gernika's relegation to the fourth-class Tercera Division , he moved to league rival SD Beasain , but returned to Gernika FC after only one year, where he also stayed for only one year. In 2005 he moved back to Segunda División B for Sestao River .

Better late than never, at the age of 26 he moved to Athletic Bilbao in the Primera División , where he immediately developed into a regular player despite the large class difference. He scored his first first division goal in a 1-1 draw with Real Murcia .
