The Kola Bay Bridge crosses the only 1600 m wide at this point Kola Bay in the Murmansk Oblast in Kola , about five kilometers south of Murmansk .
The 2500 m long road bridge was built between 1992 and 2005. The bridge was inaugurated on October 11, 2005 by the then Russian head of government Fradkow .
The only bridge to date over the 57-kilometer-long fjord-like Kola Bay is located along the European route E 105 / R21 and significantly facilitates the connection between the region and northern Norway in Finnmark and Petschenga .
