The colonial society was an expedition ship of the German Colonial Society and later a ship of the Imperial Gouvernement of German New Guinea .
history
The colonial society was built in 1912 by Ulderup & Schlueter on behalf of the German Colonial Society in Hong Kong . It was intended for the Empress Augusta River Expedition of 1912/13 in New Guinea . After the expedition, the colonial society donated the ship to the governorate of German New Guinea in September 1913 .
In the First World War , the colonial society sank on September 20, 1914 after being stranded.
