Gauern Church
The Evangelical Lutheran branch church Gauern is located in Gauern , a municipality in the Thuringian district of Greiz . The parish Gauern belongs to the parish area Großenstein-Soon Park in the church district Altenburger Land of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The core of the church is a Gothic hall church with a slightly drawn-in, polygonal closed choir . It was rebuilt and refurbished in 1721 by the patron saint, Hans Dietrich von Creutz. In 1892, the hall was in the south cultivated . The nave with a gabled roof covered, from which the church tower as a roof turret rises. His hood was new in 1951 verschiefert and the clock tower was renewed. The church was restored in 1992/93. There is a closed patronage box on the west and north sides of the nave . It is decorated with carved and painted coats of arms . Contemporary portraits of the Creutz couple hang in the patronage box. On the patron's box are a crucifix and a life-size, kneeling baptismal angel , both from the 18th century. On the northern part, the crown consists of stylized pomegranates. In the south and east are two-storey galleries , on the east there is the pulpit altar . On the balustrades of the galleries are folk paintings with scenes from the life of Jesus Christ and the Passion . The middle shrine of a carved altarpiece has been preserved from the medieval church furnishings . On it are Anna herself , St. Jerome and St. Dorothea , as well as a Pietà and the statue of St. Martin from another altarpiece. All other sculptures are from the end of the 15th or beginning of the 16th century. On the north wall of the nave is a large wooden panel picture with a coat of arms and an inscription about the founder and client HD von Creutz. The organ with 7 registers , divided into a manual and a pedal , was built in 1862 by Christoph Opitz .
