The Komandnaja Nunatak ( Russian Гора Командная Gora Komandnaja , German “Command Mountain ” ) is a nunatak in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It is the easternmost and highest of the Rochlin Nunatakker in the southern part of the Payer group in Hoelfjella .
It was discovered and mapped during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . Scientists from a Soviet Antarctic expedition carried out from 1960 to 1961 , during which a new mapping was carried out based on aerial photographs and measurements , named him.
