Komisja Edukacji Narodowej

Komisja Edukacji Narodowej [ kɔ'mʲisja ɛdu'katsji narɔ'dɔvɛj ] ( German Commission for National Education , KEN for short) was a school and education commission in the aristocratic Republic of Poland-Lithuania . It was founded on October 14, 1773 by the Polish Sejm and King Stanislaus II August Poniatowski .

Due to its far-reaching authority and autonomy, it is considered to be the world's first historical ministry of education and one of the greatest achievements of the Polish Enlightenment .

In 2011 the KEN archive was included in the UNESCO World Document Heritage .
