The Coming Saint-Jean in Schlettstadt , a French city in the Bas-Rhin in the region Alsace , was built around the 1560th The former commander at No. 10 boulevard du Maréchal Leclerc has been classified as a Monument historique since 1931 .

history

The Coming of the Order of St. John in Schlettstadt was founded in 1265. In 1399 it was subordinated as a priory of the Coming in Strasbourg. In the 1560s, a larger building was erected on the site of the previous building, designed by the architect Michael Sindelin . He fell from a scaffold during construction in 1562 and died of his injuries three days later.

During the Thirty Years War in 1632 the complex was badly damaged by the Swedes. After the end of the war in 1648, part of the site was used to build a road and strengthen the city fortifications.

From 1806 to 1910 the building was used as a communal school and during this time several renovations took place. Today part of the city administration is located in the building.
