Kommetjie is a place on the west coast of the Cape Peninsula in South Africa . It is located on the Atlantic southwest of the metropolis Cape Town , to which Kommetjie administratively belongs. In 2011 the place had 2,435 predominantly English-speaking residents.

Kommetjie is located on a six kilometer long sandy beach, the Long Beach. South of the town is located on the coast of Lighthouse Slangkop Lighthouse .

On March 4, 1984 , the South African singer-songwriter Jeremy Loops was born there.
