Commodore Rolin class

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Commodore Rolin class was a series of six pilot station ships that were built in the 1950s and 1960s for the Federal Ministry of Transport at the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg and at the Schichau shipyard in Bremerhaven.

Ships

The ships were 55.1 m long and 9.5 m wide. They had a maximum draft of 4.0 m. They were the forward base of the sea pilots, who were brought to the incoming ships in transfer boats and from them back to the station ships. The station ships were gradually replaced by new ships with Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull at the beginning of the 21st century .
