The Kapitän König is a former pilot station ship that was stationed in the Weser estuary. She is one of six ships of the same type of the Commodore Rolin class that were stationed in the mouths of the Elbe , Weser / Jade and Ems waters .

history

The Kapitän König was built in 1962/63 under the hull number 517 at the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg . The keel was laid on August 29, 1962, the launch on January 1, 1963. The ship was completed on June 1, 1963.

The ship's owner was the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development (BMVBS), and it was operated by Lotsbetriebsverein e. V. Bremerhaven branch . The ship was in summer 2010 by the SWATH -Lotsenstationsschiff Weser replaced and in the fishing port of Bremerhaven launched .

On August 29, 2014 the Kapitän König was offered for sale by Vebeg and sold for € 203,204.26 on October 7. Initially, it was planned to convert the ship into an expedition cruise ship for Arctic cruises. The ship was resold in autumn 2015 and towed to Rotterdam in January 2016.

The ship is named after Paul König , who u. a. The captain of the commercial submarine Germany was.

Technical specifications

The ship is powered by diesel-electric technology . The two electric traction motors come from LDW Abwicklungs GmbH. They each have an output of 456  kW and act on two fixed propellers .

Three MTU diesel engines (type: 8V 396 TC 62), each with an output of 440 kW, drive three generators with an output of 330 kW each to generate electricity on board . The ship also has three shaft generators , each with an output of 90 kW. An emergency generator with 60 kW output was also installed.

The hull of the ship is reinforced with ice ( ice class E1).
