The Berlin Municipal Employers' Association ( KAV Berlin for short ) is a regional interest group for employers who apply public collective bargaining law. It represents its members in politics at the federal and regional level. The KAV Berlin negotiates collective agreements with the trade unions for its members with around 90,000 employees and supports the companies in ensuring their competitiveness and future viability.

Members are 91 (as of September 2019) public companies and institutions in Berlin from different industries. These include, for example, the Berliner Stadtreinigungsbetriebe , the Berliner Wasserbetriebe (BWB), the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG), the Charité , the Vivantes clinics , the universities, cultural and social institutions and housing associations.
The most important organs of the KAV Berlin are the board of directors and the advisory board. The board accepts new members, passes collective agreements and makes recommendations on collective bargaining policies. He determines the fundamental directional decisions.
The general meeting takes place once a year. The general assembly elects the board for two years and votes on the budget.
The association is a member of the Association of Municipal Employers' Associations , the umbrella organization for municipal employers in Germany.
tasks
Representing its members, the association acts as a collective bargaining partner on the employers' side and represents their interests during the ongoing collective bargaining at state and federal level.
At the state level, the association prepares collective bargaining and collective agreements and leads the negotiations as a representative of the respective member through to the collective agreement. During the negotiations, the employers' association also takes on the press work on all aspects of collective bargaining.
At the federal level, the umbrella organization, the Association of Local Employers (VKA), safeguards the interests of Berlin's public employers. The KAV Berlin is represented in numerous federal bodies such as the VBL , Deutsche Rentenversicherung and others.
