Communicator research

The communicator research is a central branch of communication and media studies and deals with communicators or media actors whose personality, action routines and their integration into certain organizations (eg. As editors or news agencies). It examines the conditions under which media statements are created and shaped.

Research types in communicator research are journalism , which deals with the journalist as a communicator, and PR science , which PR practitioners (e.g. press spokesman or media consultant) have as the subject of research.

Communicator research also provides biographical work on journalists or editors with journalistic personalities, as suggested by newspaper scientist Emil Dovifat , and analyzes workflows in editorial offices and media companies.
