Hans-Bernd Brosius

Hans-Bernd Brosius (born August 22, 1957 in Bocholt ) is a German communication scientist and university professor .

Life

Brosius is the son of the wholesale merchant Paul Brosius and his wife Agnes. He graduated from the St. Georg Gymnasium in Bocholt from 1967 to 1976 and then studied psychology , philosophy , pedagogy and medicine at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . In 1980 he obtained the Diploma in Psychology, 1983, he was with a dissertation on the subject of eye movement and information processing for Dr. phil. PhD . He then moved to the University of Mainz , where he began working on the rationality of everyday life in news reception in 1994 . A model of the perception and processing of news content was habilitated . In June 1991 he received the Heinz Maier Leibnitz Prize from the Federal Minister for Education and Science for the promotion of young scientists.

From 1995 to 2004, Brosius headed the Media Institute in Ludwigshafen . In 1996 he was appointed professor for empirical communication research at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . Among other things, his merits include helping to shape the reorientation of communication science at Munich University. He has been dean there since 2001 . From 1996 to 1998 he was deputy chairman and then until 2002 chairman of the German Society for Media and Communication Studies . He received various appointments to other universities, which he turned down, for example to the universities of Zurich , Düsseldorf , Erfurt or Jena .

His students include Andreas Fahr , Patrick Rössler and Constanze Rossmann .
