Patrick Roessler

Patrick Rössler (* 1964 in Baden-Baden ) is a German university professor for communication science with a focus on empirical communication research. He has been a professor at the University of Erfurt since 2000 .

Professional background

Patrick Rössler studied journalism , law and political science at the University of Mainz . From 1989 to 1994 he was first a project member and then a professor at the University of Hohenheim . There he did his doctorate in the field of communication science / empirical social research.

In 1997 he became a research assistant at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . There he is also considered a student of Hans-Bernd Brosius . At the institute he stayed at the Institute for Communication Science until 2000, when he was finally offered a call to Erfurt and from 2000 to 2003 was Professor of Communication Sociology and Psychology. Since 2004 he has been a professor of communication studies with a focus on empirical communication research / methods.

In 2006 he took over the office of chairman of the German Society for Media and Communication Studies ( DGPuK ) e. V., which he held until 2008. He is now also a representative of the International Communication Association (ICA) in Germany.

Rössler is also the curator of several exhibitions. On March 23, 2019, the exhibition "Four, Bauhaus girls'" curated by him was opened in Erfurt.
