Band history
Barry Harris first worked for an insurance company. He quit his job and became a DJ at a club in his hometown of Toronto. In the spring of 1988 he met the singer Kevin Wynne, with whom he recorded the track I Beg Your Pardon . In 1989 the single became their first joint success as Kon Kan. The song, in which lines of text from Lynn Anderson's 1971 hit (I Never Promised You A) Rose Garden were processed, was placed in the top 10 in Germany and Great Britain and in the top 20 in the USA .
With Harry Houdini (UK number 88) and Puss' boots / n These Boots Are Made for Walkin ' (US No. 58), the samples from Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song and Nancy Sinatra These Boots Are Made for Walkin' contained, reached two more extractions from the album Move to Move chart ranks. A short time later, Wynne left the project and Harris continued to use the name Kon Kan alone. The results of his work were the albums Syntonic (1990) and Vida! ... (1993). None of the decoupled singles could build on previous successes, chart placements failed to materialize.
Harris then focused on the production of other acts, such as Kim Esty, who was already backing up on Kon Kan's I Beg Your Pardon , Top Kat, Outta Control, Thunderpuss 2000 and Killer Bunnies.
