Lynn Anderson
Lynn Rene Anderson (* 26. September 1947 in Grand Forks , North Dakota ; † thirtieth July 2015 in Nashville , Tennessee ) was an American with the Grammy excellent Country singer, the 1970 worldwide hit by the Rose Garden was known. In addition, her 60 hits in the American country charts. Along with Dolly Parton , Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette , she was one of the most successful country singers of the 1970s.
Career
As the daughter of the well-known songwriter Liz Anderson , she came into contact with country music at an early age. She was discovered in 1965 when she accompanied her mother to Nashville , who received a BMI Award there . In the same year, Lynn got a record deal with the smaller Chart label . In 1966 her first solo single was released , followed by an appearance in the Grand Ole Opry . From 1967 to 1969 she had four top ten hits in the country charts with If I Kiss You (Will You Go Away) , Promises, Promises , No Another Time and That's a No No , and nine other singles reached the top 20 there .
In 1969, Anderson moved to Columbia Records . Here, shortly afterwards, she achieved one of the greatest country hits of all time with Rose Garden . The title was also able to place high in the international pop charts and earned her a Grammy and other awards. The single reached number 3 in the USA, as well as in Great Britain. The record came in at number 1 in Germany and was able to last for four weeks. Numerous other successes followed, including number 1 hits in the US country charts: You're My Man , How Can I Unlove You (1971), Keep Me in Mind (1973) and What a Man, My Man Is (1974). In the pop hit lists, however, she did not have another top 40 hit.
From the mid-1970s, Anderson's success slowly waned, but she tirelessly released more albums and continued to hit the charts with her singles. Her last Top 10 success came in 1983 in a duet with Gary Morris : You're Welcome to Tonight . In addition, she worked occasionally as an actress (including 1977 as country singer Sue Ann Grainger in the episode "Back then in Pittsville" of the TV crime series Starsky & Hutch ) and earned a reputation as a passionate rider and horse breeder . She has also won numerous awards in this area. Anderson remained connected to country music and continued to release albums at multi-year intervals, most recently Cowgirl (2006), Cowgirl II (2010) and Bridges (2015). She received her last Grammy nomination in 2014 for the album The Bluegrass Sessions . Their last hit on the country charts was in 1989.
Private
Lynn Anderson was married to country musician Glenn Sutton from 1968 to 1977 . From this marriage a child was born. Two other children come from the marriage to Harold Stream III. This marriage lasted from 1978 to 1982.
After vacationing in Italy, she was admitted to a hospital in Nashville with pneumonia . There she died of a heart attack on July 30, 2015 .
