Kondor Island (English; Bulgarian остров Кондор ostrow Kondor ) is a rocky and in a west-east orientation 320 m long and 140 m wide island off the north coast of Nelson Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located 2.45 km west of Cariz Point , 1.41 km north-northeast of Baklan Point , 1.73 km east-northeast of Withem Island and 110 m southwest of Fregata Island .
British scientists mapped them in 1968. The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named them in 2018 after the Bulgarian trawler condor , which was used for fishing in the waters around South Georgia , the Kerguelen , the South Orkney Islands and from the 1970s to the early 1990s was active around the South Shetland Islands.
