The alliance of the Szlachta regarded John II Casimir , who had returned to Lemberg from his exile in Silesia on December 18, 1655 with the Polish imperial regalia , as their true king and from then fought Karl X. Gustav of Sweden and his claim to the Polish - Lithuanian throne.
