The Garmisch-Partenkirchen Congress Center is a congress and event center in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . It is the largest event house in the Bavarian Alps .

Originally, the construction of a “ballroom” in the Garmisch district began in the mid-1930s. The ballroom was used for official events during the 1936 Winter Olympics . In the following years, the Nazi regime used the ballroom for celebrations and speeches of all kinds. The original ballroom was rebuilt and expanded for the 1978 World Ski Championships . With the Richard Strauss Concert Hall, another hall was built in 1964, which is connected to the ballroom via the Kurpark Restaurant. In the course of the renovation in 1978, the concert hall was also expanded to include an artist area and a works service apartment. The Olympic Hall, in which the Olympic Cinema was previously housed, is now part of the building complex. The Olympic Hall is located in an adjoining building that also houses the Tourist Information. In 1997, another wing was added in which today, in addition to several seminar rooms, there is the “small theater” and a cabaret (stage U1). In addition, the entrance area of the Michael-Ende-Kurpark was redesigned and a restaurant (pavilion) was built on Richard-Strauss-Platz.

In addition to seminars and conferences, international congresses are held every year. These include, for example, medical congresses such as the MR / CT symposium, a specialist congress on technical orthopedics , the Aareon congress, the International Timber Construction Forum (IHF) or a specialist congress on food hygiene .
