Kongstedlund, main building and side wing

Kongstedlund stands on an old rampart and is surrounded by moats that have now been drained. The main building was built in 1592 by the Danish nobleman Niels Juul. In 1640 the entrance to the main building was given a baroque sandstone portal, which is a particularly valuable architectural detail of Kongstedlund. In the 1770s, a low half-timbered wing was added to the manor house. Kongstedlund stands on an old vaulted cellar that still comes from a previous building.

The facades of Kongstedlund are whitewashed, but originally consisted of unplastered red bricks. The floors of the main building are marked with wall anchors . The rectangular windows are located in window cavities that are bent upwards like a handle. The gables follow the red gable roof in a straight line , but were most likely curved in the Renaissance style in the past.

The baroque sandstone portal from 1640 was added by the landowners Ivar Krabbe and Dorte Juul, whose initials it bears. The most important elements of the portal are two heavily armed warriors who flank the entrance, two angels who carry the upper part of the portal, and in the upper part two female figures who flank a family coat of arms and a laurel wreath.
