Konishiki Yasokichi , Japanese 小 錦 八十 吉 , actually: Iwai Yasokichi ( 岩 井 八十 吉 ); (Born October 15, 1866 in Chiba Prefecture ; † October 22, 1914 ) was a Japanese sumo wrestler and the 17th yokozuna .

Konishiki's training took place in the Takasago-Beya stable. At 1.68 m Konishiki was rather small for a sumo fighter. Nevertheless, he wrestled in the makuuchi division from May 1888 and was appointed Ōzeki (master) two years later . Between 1888 and 1895 he won seven tournaments, and in 1896 he replaced yokozuna Nishinoumi, who had been the leader of the rankings for years . Until his own resignation in 1901, he could not emerge from any of the ten tournaments contested as a winner.

The Ōzeki, which was successful under the same name a hundred years later, had received his battle name in memory of the 17th yokozuna.
