Javoří Pila (German maple saw ) is a desert in the Bohemian Forest in the Czech Republic . It is located three and a half kilometers west of Modrava and three kilometers east of the border with Bavaria . Javoří Pila forms a basic settlement unit and a cadastral district of the municipality of Modrava in the Okres Klatovy .

geography

Javoří Pila is located at the southern foot of the Oblík ( Steiningberg , 1225 m) below the confluence of the Tmavý potok ( Mohrbach ) in the Javořní potok ( Ahornbach ) on the Šárecká slať ( sheep felts ) moorland . The Modravská hora ( Plohausen , 1156 m) rises to the southeast , the Smrkový vrch ( Schönfichten , 1112 m) to the southwest and the Poledník (1315 m) to the northwest .

history

Archaeological finds show that the Javořní potok valley was settled by ancient and Mesolithic hunters and gatherers.

After Joseph II von Schwarzenberg had acquired the Stubenbach rule from Count Joseph Kinsky in 1799 , intensive use of the abundance of wood on the Bohemian Forest ridge began. One of the sawmills built at this time was the maple saw located on the Ahornbach, and the Fallbaumhüter Hegerhaus was built next to it . After the sawmill was closed, the maple saw on the way from Mader to Stubenbach was used as an inn "Zum Auerhahn" ( U tetřeva ) with overnight accommodation. In 1921 the "Zum Auerhahn" inn had two tourist rooms with six beds and a night camp with ten beds.

After the Dobrá Voda military training area was built in 1948, the U tetřeva inn was located in the restricted area on the edge of the military training area. In 1950 the inn and the Hegerhaus were demolished.

In the 1950s, one and a half kilometers west of Javoří Pila on the way to Poledník, a barracks for the 6th detachment of the 7th Brigade of Pohraniční stráž was built . The Javoří Pila desert has been accessible again since the military training area was closed in 1991; at the intersection of two hiking trails, only the remains of the foundations of the earlier Javoří Pila buildings can be seen. The former barracks were demolished between 1999 and 2000 with the exception of an auxiliary building.

During the months of July to September, the border hiking trail via Poledník to Frantův most on Gsenget, which leads through the capercaillie reserve of the national park, is also accessible.
