A conjugated protein (also known as heteroprotein or proteid ) is a protein that has bound another non- protein molecule. In contrast, multimeric proteins consist of several protein components.

Conjugated proteins are e.g. B. lipoproteins , glycoproteins , phosphoproteins , heme proteins , flavoproteins , ribonucleoproteins , metalloproteins , phytochromes , cytochromes and opsins . The non-protein portion of a conjugated protein can be a post-translational modification or a prosthetic group .

As part of a molecular marker can in vitro be conjugated molecules with different proteins.
