Konrad Bartelt

Konrad Emil Bartelt (born June 16, 1880 in Prenzlau ; † after 1951) was a German chemist who was a university professor in China .

Life

He was the son of the Prenzlau merchant Ludwig Bartelt and his wife Marie nee Duranne. After attending grammar school in Prenzlau, where he graduated from high school in 1897, he studied for four years at the universities of Greifswald and Berlin . He then worked for two years as an assistant at the institute for fermentation tissue and then for five years as an assistant at the Chemical Institute at the University of Berlin. He received his doctorate as Dr. phil.

In February 1910 he was appointed full professor of chemistry and head of the chemical institute at Peking University in China. In 1951 he is said to have retired.
