Konrad Barth

Konrad Barth (born November 25, 1840 in Munich ; † May 2, 1924 ) was a German gilder , consumer cooperative and member of the first board of directors of the Central Association of German Consumers' Associations (ZdK) founded in 1903 .

Konrad Barth was born the son of a tailor. After attending elementary school, he learned the profession of gilding. After a four-year apprenticeship, he went to Stuttgart, Wiesbaden, Karlsruhe, Cologne and Hamburg as a journeyman until he returned to Munich.

After his marriage he joined the Consumverein München . He was the founder of a building cooperative and was involved in founding a productive cooperative for gilders.

In the winter of 1872 he became a member of the supervisory board of the Consumverein Munich . In 1892 he took over the management of the Association of South German Consumers . There were differences on the cooperative day of the general association of German trade and business cooperatives in September 1902 in Kreuznach. 98 consumer cooperatives of the Hamburg direction , which were based on the Großeinkaufs-Gesellschaft Deutscher Consumvereine (GEG), were to be excluded. On the basis of these events, he announced his resignation from the building cooperative and the Consumverein München . Barth became a member of the Sendling-Munich consumer association . As director of the Association of South German Consumers , he was elected to the first board of the Central Association at the founding meeting of the Central Association of German Consumers on May 18, 1903, and was appointed second chairman. This function was performed on a voluntary basis. He resigned from the management of his southern German association in 1918 and was elected honorary chairman. He was a member of the board of the central association and the publishing company of German consumer associations until his death on May 2, 1924.
