Konrad "Koni" Gabriel (born July 9, 1964 in Glarus ) is a Swiss football player , coach and official.
Career
He was the captain of the team at FC Glarus, which rose to the first division in 1987 and made it to the second highest division (NLB) a year later. He was in the starting XI of FC Glarus when they defeated FC Basel in the NLB game on August 13, 1988 (1988/89 season) at the St. Jakob (Joggeli) stadium with 1: 2. In the 86th minute Gabriel saw the yellow-red card in this game and had to watch from outside as his club scored the winning goal in the 88th minute.
On May 24, 2008 , FC Glarus became the Swiss Veteran Champion and the Veteran Cup winner (seniors 40+). Koni Gabriel was one of the outstanding players on this team.
Gabriel has been president of FC Glarus since 2014 . Under his leadership, the club rose from the 4th division back to the 3rd division in the 2018/2019 season. Before that he was junior chairman of FC Glarus for several years and received honorary membership of FC Glarus.
He is the managing director of the Gabriel bakery, which operates a total of eight branches.
