Konrad Geibel , also Conrad Geibel , (born October 26, 1817 in Lübeck , † April 24, 1872 ibid) was a German organist and composer .

Life

Konrad Geibel was the youngest of eight children of the pastor of the Reformed church in Lübeck Johannes Geibel and his wife, the merchant's daughter Elisabeth Louise, née. Ganslandt (1778–1841), a sister of Röttger Ganslandt . Emanuel Geibel was his older brother.

Konrad Geibel was considered a capable artist and a highly original person . "Like Emanuel, Konrad had a deep mind, but was unable to express his feelings and feelings in a simple way, but usually vented in a very baroque manner and an apparently unnatural happiness."

He studied for two years at the Leipzig Conservatory, today's University of Music and Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig . In 1846 he found a job as organist of the Reformed Church and also gave music lessons. He often accompanied his brother as a pianist at soirees in the house of Consul Christian Adolf Nölting .

Some of Konrad Geibel's traits serve as a model for the portrayal of Edmund Pfühl , the organist of St. Mary's Church in Thomas Mann's Buddenbrooks .
