Konrad I. (Teck)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Konrad I. von Teck , († 1244/49), Duke of Teck, was a son of Adalbert II. Von Teck and belonged to the Zähringen branch of the Dukes of Teck . He is considered to be the founder of the city of Kirchheim unter Teck .

Life

Konrad's mother is not documented.

The first documentary mention of Konrad I was made in 1214 together with his brother Berthold I von Teck in a document issued by King Friedrich II in Ulm for the Salem monastery . After the death of the last Zähringer Berthold V , the brothers Konrad I and Berthold I von Teck sold their claims to the Zähringer inheritance to King Friedrich II.

Documentary mentions show Konrad I on December 31, 1231 in Hagenau , on September 25, 1232 in Wimpfen , on June 4, 1233 perhaps in Esslingen and on May 10, 1234 in Wimpfen at the court of King Henry VII .

Between 1220 and 1230 he made Kirchheim a town. On November 5, 1235, he transferred a courtyard with a garden to a Kirchheimer Beginensammlung and exempted them from tax. Konrad I von Teck died between 1244 and 1249 and was buried in the church choir of the convent.

Marriage and offspring

The name of his wife is not documented, possibly it was a daughter of Count Hermann von Sulz . This would explain the inclusion of the name Hermann in the family tree of the Dukes of Teck and the incorporation of former Sulzian property ( Dornhan and Bochingen ).

In 1244, Pope Innocent IV approved the marriage of a daughter, Duke Conrad I of Teck, to Count Otto I of Eberstein († 1279), despite a close relationship. Whether the marriage was concluded is doubtful, since Otto I. von Eberstein is named in his first marriage to Kunigunde von Freiburg († before 1244) and in 1252 in his second marriage to Beatrix von Krautheim.
