Conrad III. (Münsterschwarzach)
Conrad III. († November 22, 1342 ) was abbot of the Benedictine monastery in Münsterschwarzach from 1339 to 1342 .
Münsterschwarzach before Konrad
Abbot Conrad III. was already the thirty-fourth prelate to head the Münsterschwarzach Abbey. Under its direct predecessors, the monastery convent strengthened itself again after it was affected by a split in the second half of the 13th century. Abbot Johannes I sold many of the abbey 's goods in order to be able to pay for the new church in Dimbach . His successor Heinrich completed his work and began to build a provost in the monastery village.
Life
Abbot Konrad may have come from the Franconian noble family of Zollner von Hallburg , who had their ancestral seat near the town of Volkach . Conrad is first attested on September 16, 1339, when he had the village of Laub sold to the Teufel family. During his time, Bishop Otto II von Wolfskeel separated the parish Stadtschwarzach from the monastery. Under Konrad's rule, on July 21, 1342, there was a great flood of the Main, which devastated the monastery property. Conrad III. died on November 22, 1342.
coat of arms
A personal coat of arms is for Abbot Konrad III. not handed down. However, if he was part of the Franconian noble family of Zollner von Hallburg, at least the family coat of arms exists. Description of the family crest: In red a male turned left with a gold collar; red-silver helmet covers; on his helmet a gray-bearded man in a red dress.
