Konrad Freifeldt

Konrad Raimund Freifeldt (born March 13, 1847 in Dorpat , Russian Empire ; † May 31, 1923 in Petrograd , Soviet Union ) was a clergyman of Baltic German descent.

Life

After studying theology at Dorpat University, Freifeldt worked from 1870 to 1875 as a religion teacher in Saint Petersburg . After a brief activity as a deacon at St. John's Church and as a senior teacher at the grammar school in Dorpat, he returned to Saint Petersburg in 1877 and was first pastor of the Estonian Johannis congregation, and in 1880 pastor of the German St. Anne's congregation . In 1887 he joined the Evangelical Lutheran General Consistory , serving as its vice-president from 1892 to 1917. In 1891 he also became general superintendent and in 1896 bishop.
