Konrad Schmüdgen

Konrad Schmüdgen (born November 11, 1947 in Graefendorf ) is a German mathematician .

Career

Schmüdgen studied mathematics in Leipzig with his doctorate A 1973 with Gerd Laßner (1940-2005) (dissertation: * -algebras and their realization as operator algebras) and the dissertation B in 1976. He was a lecturer in Leipzig and from 1980 professor of analysis in Greifswald . From 1982 until his retirement in 2012 he was Professor of Analysis in Leipzig.

He deals with functional analysis including operator algebras, mathematical physics, quantum groups, and real algebraic geometry.

He was visiting professor at the University of Heidelberg , the University of Iowa and the University of Fukuoka .
