Konrad Stäheli (born December 17, 1866 in Egnach , † November 5, 1931 in St. Gallen ) was a Swiss sports shooter.

Career

He took part in the Summer Olympics in Paris in 1900 , where he won three gold and one bronze medal. Because of this success he was the second most successful athlete in the Games. Six years later, at the Olympic Intermediate Games in Athens in 1906 , he competed again and was able to fight for a gold and a silver medal again. In addition, he won the unofficial competitions with the free rifle kneeling and took second place in the three-position fight on the free rifle and third place lying on the free rifle.

It is controversial whether or not the unofficial competitions, in which not medals but prizes were given out, should be included in the athletes' medal table. If this were to be done, Stäheli would have won nine Olympic medals, making him the most successful Olympic athlete for a number of years.
