Konrad von Velen

Konrad von Velen (* around 1300 ; † after 1393 ) was elected provost in the prince-bishopric of Münster and archdeacon in Bocholt .

Life

Konrad von Velen was born the son of Simon von Velen and his wife Kunigunde. In 1367, his grandfather Hermann von Velen signed a contract with him and his brother Hermann with the content that both were granted the upper castle in Velen and the other contracting party and their descendants received the lower castle.

Konrad von Velen was first mentioned in a document on August 13, 1376 as the canon of Münster. He was also archdeacon in Lünen. When Heidenreich Wolf von Lüdinghausen was intended for the office of Bishop of Münster , Pope Urban VI determined. him as successor in the office of provost. However, this official act did not take effect because Konrad stuck to his office and the Bocholt parish. He remained canon in Münster until 1393.
