Console is the terminal emulation of the K Desktop Environment , which runs on Unix-like operating systems. It supports tabs , history, printing and bookmarks. Some applications like Konqueror and Kate use the console as their KPart . Console was the first completely rewritten terminal emulation and was not based on xterm or xvt like most of the others .

With the console, several instances can be loaded in tabs within a session and the window can be divided horizontally and vertically, even several times. In addition, a scroll bar, a menu bar and the tab bar can be switched on and off as required by the user. The character set, color scheme and keyboard assignment can also be set and saved in profiles.
