Konstantin Isaakowitsch Sonin ( Russian Константин Исаакович Сонин ; born February 22, 1972 in Moscow ) is a Russian economist and one of the most famous economists in Russia.

Life

Konstantin Sonin is Vice Rector and Professor of Economics at the Moscow School of Economics and Research Fellow at the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), London . He is a co-founder of the joint HSE - NES Bachelor of Arts program . Until August 2013 he was Professor of Economics and Vice Rector at the New Economic School (NES). His research interests lie in political economy, development economics and economic theory .

He has published in leading journals in economics and political science such as The American Economic Review , Quarterly Journal of Economics , Review of Economic Studies , American Political Science Review , American Journal of Political Science, Journal of the European Economic Association , Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences , and others. As of April 2011, it has been ranked number 1 in Russia's RePEc academic quotation service .

Konstantin Sonin is a columnist for The Moscow Times . For the daily newspaper Vedomosti , the Russian sister paper of the Financial Times , Sonin regularly analyzes the economic situation and criticizes the state capitalist course of the Kremlin. He contributes to important international and Russian media with his columns and analyzes. He is the author of Sonin.ru: Lessons of Economics (in Russian), a book aimed at a wide audience.
