The Constantinople buttercup ( Ranunculus constantinopolitanus ) is a species of the genus buttercup ( Ranunculus ).

features

The Constantinople buttercup is a perennial, herbaceous plant that usually reaches heights of 20 to 75 centimeters. The plant forms a rhizome . The roots are all more or less thin. They are not bulbous or fusiform. There are protruding hairs on the stems and flower stalks. The basal leaves are three columns. The base of its middle section is wedge-shaped. The sepals are turned back. At the time of fruiting the flower base is more or less spherical and not elongated.

The flowering period extends from April to June.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 28 or 32.

Occurrence

The species occurs in the Balkans, Cyprus, the Crimea, the Caucasus, Turkey, Syria, northern Iraq and Iran. It grows in damp meadows.

The Constantinople buttercup is used as an ornamental plant for groups of trees.
