Konstantinos Papakonstantinou ( Greek Κωνσταντίνος Παπακωνσταντίνου , born April 1907 in Corinth ; † 1989 in Athens ) was a Greek lawyer and politician .

Life

After attending school, Papakonstantinou studied law at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and, after completing his studies, took up a position as a lawyer in 1928.

He began his political career in 1946 when he was first elected as a member of the Greek Parliament for the constituency of Corinth . After several re-elections, he was a member of parliament until the beginning of the military dictatorship in 1967, most recently as a representative of the National Radical Union (Ethniki Rizospastiki Enosis) founded by Konstantinos Karamanlis in 1955 .

After serving as deputy communications minister in the cabinet of Prime Minister Alexandros Papagos between 1954 and 1955 , after Prime Minister Karamanlis took office on October 6, 1955, he took over numerous offices in his cabinet , which was in office until June 17, 1963 with two brief exceptions.

First he was Minister of Agriculture from October 1955 to February 1956 and then Minister of Justice from September 1956 to May 1958, before he was Minister of Finance from May 1958 to September 1961. He was then again Minister of Justice between November 1961 and June 1963. In April 1967 he was again for a short time Minister of Finance in the cabinet of Prime Minister Panagiotis Kanellopoulos .

After the end of the military dictatorship, he was re-elected as a member of parliament in 1974 as a candidate for Nea Dimokratia (ND), also founded by Karamanlis, and was a member of this parliament after re-elections in 1977 and 1981 to 1985. During this time he was initially again Minister of Justice for a short time from July to October 1974, before he was also President of Parliament from December 219, 1975 to December 11, 1977.

He was then from November 28, 1977 to October 21, 1981 Deputy Prime Minister in the cabinet of Konstantinos Karamanlis.

Papakonstantinou, who was a member of the Society for Administrative Studies, also wrote studies on civil and procedural law, as well as on constitutional law issues , which were published in various professional journals.
