The Konstanz Triumphal Arch is a fountain in Konstanz , which was designed and executed by the sculptor Peter Lenk . It was built in 1992 on the median of the main thoroughfare "Untere Laube", which was the most important transit route to Switzerland at that time . The fountain satirizes the traffic.

Representations

The plastic applications put on the pillars of the arch and the fountain edges and the bathing figures in the well itself - with ample quotations from art history - more than 30 different road users across the story is: the Road Rage over Putten with gas masks, bishops, a naked beauty that is teased by male aardvarks, to medieval charioteers or a papal carriage that finds its modern counterpart in a popemobile .

reception

The fountain was initially received critically and controversially discussed by conservative Constance citizens due to its revealing depictions, but is now one of the city's most important sights.
