Kopalnia Węgla Kamiennego ROW

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The ROW hard coal mine (in Polish Kopalnia Węgla Kamiennego ROW ) is the association of four previously independent mines in the Rybnik coal area, Poland .

As part of the restructuring in the Polish hard coal mine , Polska Grupa Górnicza (PGG) decided to combine the previously independent mines Chwałowice , Jankowice , Marcel and Rydułtowy in a joint operation. The merger took place on July 1, 2016.

This network bears the old name ROW (Rybniki Okręk Węglowa), has an area of 154 km², has 11,690 employees - 9408 of them underground - has 23 shafts and extracts 58,500 t of coal every day  .

The goal of PGG to reduce operating costs within the company should be achieved through the following measures:

  • Saving management staff through leaner administrative structures
  • Standardization of the mining material in the previously independently operating mines
  • Creation of underground connections between the four mines

The extent to which these measures will lead to the closure of individual production sites can currently (July 2016) hardly be estimated, especially since only two of the four mines, namely Marcel and Chwałowice , are currently achieving positive operating results.
