Korado Korlević

Korado Korlević (born September 19, 1958 in Poreč , Croatia ) is a Croatian amateur astronomer and employee of the Višnjan Observatory .

He is the discoverer of numerous asteroids , currently (as of Jan. 2010) there are over 1270, 130 of them together with other observers. He also discovered comets 183P / Korlević-Jurić and 203P / Korlević

In 1990 he took part in the 1st International Tunguska Expedition to the site of the Tunguska event . Motivated by the new research areas that this expedition revealed, Korlević set about replacing the telescope at the Višnjan Observatory. This was badly damaged during the Croatian War. The new telescope could be used from 1995 and quickly led to the discovery of numerous previously unknown asteroids.

The asteroid (10201) Korado was named after him in recognition of his educational, astronomical and social commitment.
