Corps appeal
The corps roll call (or regimental roll call ) is a traditional session event during the Cologne carnival . In particular, the traditional corps maintain the club's internal events, at which the carnivalists are humorously tested for their suitability for sessions. The corps roll calls form a carnival parody of the soldier tradition of flag roll calls. Similar to the military model, the new members are accepted, recruits are sworn in, carnivalists are “promoted” and honorary members are appointed. During the corps roll call, the parties present and rehearse the carnival program - speeches, small plays, dance and music performances - for the current session. Traditional food at the events is kale with sausage or a plate of pea soup .
In the traditional corps, only men are accepted into the ranks of the mostly hierarchical-military carnival societies at the Cologne Carnival. An exception was the admission of Henriette Reker as Cologne mayor in 2016 . She became the first female member of some traditional societies , including Agrippina Kurasch (Courage) with the Rote Funken .
At this event, the members not only swear loyalty to the association, but also to spread cheerfulness and cheerfulness while observing certain rules of propriety during the carnival. One of the oldest and best-known carnival oaths has been the Rote-Funken-Eid since the 19th century , which has been immortalized since 1977 on a plaque on the Rote-Funken-Platz in Cologne.

In some traditional societies - such as the EhrenGarde of the City of Cologne in 1902 - corps appeals also take place outside of the session - as monthly meetings of the club members.
