Korra-Korrabes (meteorite)
The meteorite of Korra-Korrabes was found in November 1996 by an African farmer who in the Namaqualand region ( Namibia further) to fragments of the Gibeon meteorite was looking for. He found a stone meteorite weighing 22 kg and another 11 fragments with a total weight of 18 kg in a dry river bed . Thereupon the area surrounding the site was searched with metal detectors , and several hundred fragments with a total weight of about 140 kg were found. The largest fragment was part of a garden wall and was only identified as a meteorite in November 2000.
The Korra-Korrabes meteorite originates from the asteroid belt and is classified as a group H3 common chondrite . It has clearly pronounced chondrules and contains olivine as well as the mineral bronzite .
Chemical composition: 12–20% iron , 80–90% silicates (no more precise information was found in the literature)
