The Kotrag Nunatak ( Bulgarian нунатак Котраг nunatak Kotrag ) is a 290 m high and distinctive nunatak on Greenwich Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It rises 600 m southwest of Lloyd Hill , 1.5 km east of Telerig Nunatak and 940 m west of Alzek Nunatak from the Murgasch Glacier .
Bulgarian scientists mapped it in the course of surveying the Tangra Mountains on the neighboring Livingston Island between 2004 and 2005. The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in 2005 after Kotrag , a proto-Bulgarian khan of the 7th century and founder of the Volga Bulgarian Empire .
