Koupéla is a city and a department in Burkina Faso , capital of the province of Kouritenga in the Center-Est region . The population consists mainly of Mossi .
In Koupéla, the national road that connects Ouagadougou with Niger meets the one that leads to Togo .
The city is the seat of the Archdiocese of Koupéla . The local sports club AS Koupéla played during the 2008/09 season as a promoted player in the country's top football league.
