The Królewskie Wzgórze (before 1945 Królewska Góra , German Königshöhe ; today also Ślimak ( snail ), Sobótka ) is a 99.2 meter high elevation in Gdansk in Poland . It lies in the area of the Wrzeszcz Górny ( Langfuhr ) district and was named after King Friedrich Wilhelm III. named by Prussia (1770–1840).
From the mountain you have the most beautiful panoramic view of Gdansk, the former lookout point at the top was badly damaged in 1945 and is now neglected. The ascent to the mountain was paved in the middle of the 19th century and was connected to the Jäschkentaler Park . Until 1945, red beeches formed the lettering “Danzig”. A toboggan run existed until the 1970s.
The former Jewish cemetery of Langfuhr , which was sold in 1938, is located on its northern slope . It is located on Romualda Traugutta Street and is now a public park and not a protected cultural monument .
In 1925, the non-profit Danziger Heimstätten building cooperative Daheim built a settlement with 40 single and four-family houses. In 2006, the Królewskie Wzgórze settlement with 21 buildings for 680 families was built on 6 hectares .
