history

The settlement emerged as a canon settlement at the beginning of the 18th century. During this time, on the instructions of the Wittgenstein Counts, the soft forest areas were settled.

Until the regional reform in 1975, the hamlet belonged to the independent municipality of Wunderthausen and the Berleburg office . In terms of church, the small settlement was assigned to the parish of Girkhausen until the middle of the 19th century . In 1900 the place had eleven inhabitants.

The name Kraftsholz is a so-called clearing name . The first part of the word refers to one of the first settlers named Craft . The second part stands for forest .
