The first documentary mention comes from January 21, 1303. Here the place is mentioned for the first time as Wandirdihusen.

In 1338 a chapel in Wunderthausen is mentioned. In the years 1508 to 1569, Wunderthausen was part of the church of Bromskirchen . One school is dated for 1790. In 1816, Wunderthausen was incorporated into the Prussian state. The men's choir was founded in 1869. It was followed by the warrior club in 1873. The fire brigade received a suction and pressure pump in 1883. From 1892, Wunderthausen and the village of Diedenshausen have the status of their own parish . Wunderthausen is known for its spoon production: in 1916, 900,000 spoons are said to have been made. In 1922, electricity found its way into Wunderthausen. In 1928 the shooting and rifle club was founded. Since January 1, 1975, Wunderthausen has been a district of Bad Berleburg . In 2003, Wunderthausen celebrated its 700th anniversary.
