history
The first known traces of settlement go back over 2,000 years to the time of the Celts . A church is mentioned for the year 1099. The first secured documentary mention took place in the year 1332. The place in its medieval spelling Wenegiskusen was related to a dispute between two nobles from Oberhundem . For the years 1494 and 1526, documents from the Berleburg Archives attest to the various sales of goods. In 1611 the concession to build the Wingeshäuser Hütte is granted. The Wingeshausen school is mentioned in 1773. In 1781 this was expanded to become the Aue-Wingeshausen school building and in 1819 it was named the school district with the communities of Aue and Wingeshausen. From 1845 the place belongs to the Berghausen office , later to the Berleburg office. Main branches of business are to be found in charcoal burning in connection with forestry and agriculture.
Wingeshausen came to Bad Berleburg on January 1, 1975 as part of the municipal reorganization .
